How the Science Lady came to be?

My bet is that you have figured out my love of puzzles, crosswords, jumbles, jigsaw, and my latest-word W.I.E.L.D.E.R. WARS on my i-phone. It think it's a family thing, as my 91 year-old parents still work puzzles daily. Science has been a part of my life since age 10, when I became a juvenile diabetic and learned to check urine and give shots to myself(yuck, huh?) Fortunately, scientists have made many gains in technology and medicine that have benefited me and many others.
My desire was to be an archaeologist, but as twists and turns came about, I ended up with an elementary music education degree in 1977 from Pacific Lutheran University. Since then, I have taught mainly 3rd, 4th and 5th grades and for the past 4 years I have "loved" the job of K-5 math/science specialist.
Featured at times in my blog may be the antics of my daughter (aka blog consultant), grandson (one of my upcoming kindergarteners-whooee!) and my other half(a real gardener, builder, recycle-nut, and all-around handy guy). I hope that in this blog, my science students will come to enjoy the puzzles that scientists attempt to solve, how you go about the process, and be excited to understand how science integrates with math, technology, and engineering.
Happy discovering from the Science Lady!
